Royal Worcester 3 Piece Trembleuse Set. This 3 pc Royal Worcester set contains a plate and trembleuse cup and saucer. These special cups and saucers were designed to prevent spilling for a person who suffers from the trembles (trembling hands). The saucers deep inset holds the cup firmly in place. An example can be found in the Smithsonian Design Museum.

Puce Royal Worcester marks to underside dates to 1880. Otherwise, painter's marks and incised logo to plate.
With the establishment of the Royal Worcester Porcelain Company in 1862, the company gradually gained recognition for its Japanese-inspired designs, which formed part of Japonisme, a collective fascination with Japan that took place in Europe and the United States following the opening of Japanese markets to the West by Commodore Perry in 1853. 3" H X 7" W. Condition: Fading and chip to plate, hairline to cup, otherwise minor imperfections to be expected with age. I try and represent items as accurately as possible.
