This set of 4 large handled soup or chowder bowls and 6 underplates comes from an old New England estate. They were used by the family during special occasions, although these bowls and plates do not appear to have had much use. The cobalt blue detail was applied by hand, using a powder to stipple the band, after which it was fired. This was a painstaking method used to create this look and would eventually be replaced by the airbrush technique years later.
This set does not have a pattern name, but the red number on the bottom was the pattern number. Rare to find these in such good condition.
All items come from a smoke and pet free environment.
