CONDITION: Excellent, without defects of any kind. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in England by Royal Worcester in 1882. The date marking indicates this year.
The saucer measures 4 7/8 inches long and 3 3/4 inches wide. The cup is 2 1/2 inches tall. The mouth of the cup is 2 1/8 inches long and 1 7/8 wide. The porcelain has an ivory hue with high glaze. The set has a unique, Asian inspired shape.
The porcelain is molded in high relief with violets and branches of pink blossoms. There are two panels with a subdued print of cherry blossoms. Much of the design is outlined in gold. The handle, rims and cup foot are richly gilded. This is a beautiful Japonesque creation from Royal Worcester, rarely found. The Post Office requires this.
